William Schmidt Outdoor Education Center

Meeting time and location: 7:45 a.m.,  Centreville Hall Parking Lot Side
(Breakfast & lunch pick up at 7 a.m. with PMs)

The William S. Schmidt Outdoor Education Center, part of Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS), is an academic center that provides students with a meaningful outdoor experience that enhances as well as reinforces skills learned in the classroom. The Schmidt Center offers opportunities for students across many grades to participate in Environmental Literacy programming. Their 450-acre campus is the centerpiece for environmental education for PGCPS, offering high-quality, multidisciplinary, environmental education programs that result in students making decisions and taking action in devising solutions to environmental questions.

Our Life Sciences team will be busy volunteering with a variety of outdoor activities, to help prepare the center to welcome the K-12 students the following week for their environmental learning experiences.  The Schmidt Center also hosts a low-ropes confidence course that LSers are welcome to traverse, if we are not too exhausted from the morning's exertions and the humidity.

Students, please be prepared for several hours outside.
