Executive Director, College Park Scholars

Wendy Stickle was appointed Executive Director of College Park Scholars in July 2026. She joins Scholars from the UMD Criminology and Criminal Justice program at the Universities at Shady Grove, where she served as Principal Lecturer and Undergraduate Program Director. In that role, she led a complex academic program, built campus-wide partnerships, and developed innovative, high-impact educational initiatives for students — including several education abroad programs designed to foster empathy, global awareness, and socially engaged learning.

At the University of Maryland, Dr. Stickle is widely recognized for her commitment to inclusive, student-centered undergraduate education and transparent, collaborative leadership. She currently serves as chair-elect of the University Senate and previously chaired the Senate's PCC Committee.

Her scholarly and teaching interests center on human trafficking, and she co-authored the first comprehensive social-science textbook on the subject. Dr. Stickle holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in criminology and criminal justice from the University of Maryland and a B.A. in psychology from St. Mary's College of Maryland.
