Prosper Afun

Prosper Afun is a graduate student at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy, where he is pursuing a Master of Public Policy and supporting the Public Leadership Scholars program.

Prior to joining UMD, Prosper worked with the British High Commission in Accra, Ghana, within its Strategic Partnerships and Diaspora Relations team. His work focused on strengthening partnerships between the United Kingdom and Ghana across diaspora relations, education, culture, sport and economic growth as part of the High Commission's broader soft power work in Ghana. In this role, he co-designed and delivered several initiatives, including the London-to-Accra Economic Growth Campaign and the High Commission's partnership with the Bank of Ghana on diaspora-led economic growth, exploring how diaspora communities can contribute more strategically to cross-border development and growth.

He also served as Chevening Officer for Ghana, Togo, Benin and Burkina Faso, leading the end-to-end delivery of the UK Government's flagship international scholarship programme across all four countries. Chevening's focus on identifying and developing emerging leaders gave him extensive experience engaging people with diverse leadership journeys, ambitions and approaches to public impact.

Prosper earned his bachelor's degree in Political Science and Information Studies from the University of Ghana. His interests include diaspora relations, cross-border economic growth, international development, soft power, public leadership and policy implementation.
