Julie Randolph
Julie Randolph (she/her/hers) is the Associate Director of the Civic Engagement for Social Good (CESG) Living and Learning Program at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she has worked since 2011. In this role, she coordinates community engagement opportunities, student programming, recruitment, and day-to-day operations while supporting students as they connect their academic experiences with meaningful civic engagement. She oversees the coordination of more than 100 local and regional service projects each year, connecting students with community organizations and opportunities that complement their academic and personal interests.
An interdisciplinary educator who has taught courses across multiple departments and programs at the University, Professor Randolph believes in hands-on learning that emphasizes collaboration, civic engagement, and connections between the classroom and the community. She teaches and coordinates courses focused on civic engagement and service learning, leadership, community engagement, and student success and the University experience. Through her teaching and advising, she helps students develop the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to become engaged members of their communities. Her recent professional accomplishments include receiving a RISE Grant as a Lifelong Learner and being selected for the inaugural cohort of the University of Maryland’s Civic Engagement Across the Curriculum Seminar, which supports faculty in integrating civic engagement into their teaching.
Professor Randolph began her career in education with Prince George’s County Public Schools, first as an elementary school teacher and later as a Reading Specialist, where she held leadership roles at the school and grade levels, developed and evaluated literacy programs, mentored teachers, and used student achievement data to improve instruction and support student success. Professor Randolph earned a B.A. in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland, an accelerated certificate in Elementary Teaching from the College of Notre Dame, and an M.A. in Education Policy Studies from the University of Maryland Graduate School. Her professional work is grounded in a commitment to education, service, student development, and creating opportunities for students to make a positive impact in their communities.
