Ashley Nguyễn

Ashley Nguyễn is a third year Ph.D. student in the Department of History. She studies twentieth-century American labor history, with a focus on anti-strike politics, state-sponsored surveillance, and the carceral state. Her current research goals aim to examine American counterinsurgency practices and its historical use in domestic labor conflicts between employers and workers on strike during the Cold War.
Before coming to the University of Maryland, College Park, she graduated with a double major in Political Science and International Studies from the University of Florida. She has previously worked as a labor organizer for the Alachua County Labor Coalition and the Florida Education Association.
