Three Scholars Named ODK Top Ten Freshmen

Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) is a nationally recognized leadership honor society.  The Sigma Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Society annually recognizes the Top Ten Freshmen of the University of Maryland.

These individuals have demonstrated a high level of achievement in leadership and campus involvement in their first year at College Park. The award is given in anticipation of the recipients’ continued involvement with the University in years to come.

This year, three of top first-year students at UMD are College Park Scholars. Congratulations to Edwin Cao (Data Justice), SriMahi Ghorakavi (Civic Engagement for Social Good), and Aine Heron (Justice and Legal Thought).

Ghorakavi is a dual-degree student in Operations Management Business Analytics and Public Policy. She is an Impact Consulting Fellow and Civic Engagement for Social Good Scholar. Currently, she is consulting for the Smith School of Business Dean in sustainable policy change and advocates for women's rights in India through Sambhali Trust.

Heron, a Government and Politics major aspiring to double major in International Business, is from Timonium, Maryland. As a Justice and Legal Thought Scholar, she serves as a Student Advisory Board Representative, a Scholars Ambassador, and a former Media Intern. She is involved in Phi Alpha Delta and Zeta Tau Alpha.

The trio were recently recognized, along the rest of the Top Ten Freshmen and other ODK honorees, at the 44th Annual University Student Leadership Awards Banquet.
