Each fall, students residing in residence halls across the University of Maryland's campus have an opportunity to select peers to represent them as members of each hall's council. In the five residence halls that make up the Cambridge Community, many of these council roles are filled by College Park Scholars students.
The Cumberland Hall Council had a year full of strong programs that fostered community engagment. For their efforts, the council collected a pair of awards – the RHA Council Building Block Award and Council of the Year – at the recent UMD Residence Hall Association Awards.
The Building Block Award honors an RHA Council that has made admirable progress over the course of the year, while the Council of the Year award is based on the active involvement of members.
The Scholars on the 2025-26 Cumberland Hall Council were President Alex Allin (Data Justice), Senator Emilio Difilippantonio (International Studies), Senator Zach Geller (Public Leadership), VP for Communications Jordan Parris (Justice and Legal Thought), VP for Diversity & Inclusion Jordyn Cabellon (Justice and Legal Thought), and VP for Programming & Community Development Jack McKay (Justice and Legal Thought).
Allin was also named Council President of the Year.
