2024 Citation and Awards Reception Highlights

After the 2024 Citation and Awards Ceremony, friends of College Park Scholars gathered for a reception to commemorate the program’s thirtieth anniversary and to honor founding executive director, Nancy Shapiro, who recently retired as associate vice chancellor from the University System of Maryland. William E. “Brit” Kirwan, who was president of the University of Maryland, College Park when Scholars was conceived and launched, spoke warmly of Shapiro’s leadership and of the ambitious goals that led to the program’s establishment.

Attendees included current Scholars program directors and staff, members of the Founders Circle, and other supporters whose generous donations fund scholarships and awards for our students.
