Co-Curricular Scholarship Helps Scholars Study Abroad Over Winter Break

The College Park Scholars Co-Curricular Scholarship provides financial assistance to current Scholars and Scholars citation earners who benefit from support for participation in active learning related to their Scholars curriculum, including travel-study experiences, research projects, student leadership development opportunities, for-credit internships, or service-learning initiatives.

Beloved Scholars Central Administrative Assistant Retires after 16 Years

For the last month, former and current University of Maryland students, staff and faculty have been stopping by Scholars Central Office to congratulate Nancy Metrenas on her retirement.



After being offered a job by the original College Park Scholars staff in 2000, Metrenas said that she took  the job because she "felt good vibes" from the staff. Her 16 years in College Park Scholars make her the longest serving member of the central staff in program history.


Scholars Promoting and Revitalizing Care (SPARC)

SPARC plans to foster culture of care in Scholars community

This semester, College Park Scholars is launching Scholars Promoting and Revitalizing Care (SPARC), a student-led, staff-supported initiative that promotes the wellbeing of all members of our community.



The club will hold its first interest meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 8 p.m. to gauge what care means to students and how they can show care for others.
