Mr. Mikey Sousane

Graduate Assistant; Public Leadership


Mikey Sousane is one of the graduate teaching assistants for the Public Leadership program. He is currently pursuing a master of public policy at the University of Maryland (UMD). Sousane completed his undergraduate studies at UMD in 2018, earning a BA in government & politics and a BS in economics with a minor in history.

Sousane has worked as a research assistant at a consulting firm, Rosiak Associates L.L.C., focusing on issues at the intersection of education and health policy. In this position, he conducted research for local school boards, federal agencies like the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and global organizations like the World Bank on topics such as juvenile justice reform, underage drinking/substance abuse, and youth violence in Central America. He also interned with the Department of Homeland Security, Office of the Chief Financial Officer, where he helped regulate and oversee Federal Emergency Management Agency's (or FEMA's) emergency management grants. As a graduate student, Sousane worked for the Center for American Progress on its campaigns and communications team.
