Assistant Director; Environment, Technology and Economy
Lauren Gilmartin graduated from the University of Maryland (UMD), where she received a Bachelor of Science in architecture and a minor in sustainable studies. Now back at UMD for graduate school, she is pursuing a dual master's degree in architecture and community planning with a concentration in urban design. Gilmartin is an alumna of the program and was an undergraduate teaching assistant for ETE prior to joining the team as a graduate assistant in fall 2016. She enjoys connecting with students and faculty of diverse interests and collaborating with them on various aspects of sustainable living and design.
In addition to her studies, Gilmartin works alongside architects at a local design firm and has many years of professional experience in sustainable building systems, city planning and residential architecture. She loves to travel and enjoys hiking, swimming, skiing and kayaking on the weekends.
