John Derks

John Derks is a doctoral student in the Department of Government and Politics at the University of Maryland (UMD). His primary and secondary fields are comparative politics and international relations, with a focus on secessionism, language, ethnicity and Francophone Africa. Prior to coming to UMD, John earned his bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Central Florida.
