Isabel Ruiz is a graduate assistant for the Science, Discovery and the Universe Scholars program and a full-time master's degree candidate in the College of Education's school counseling program at the University of Maryland. A bilingual (Spanish/English) youth advocate interested in and passionate about working with the community to provide youth with appropriate counseling and social resources, Ruiz possesses more than five years of working directly with youth and their families in Montgomery County, Maryland. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology and social work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, in 2021.
Ruiz was born in El Salvador and came to the United States when she was 13 years old. She has traveled to France and Greece but is currently staying at home more often, thanks to a 4-month-old puppy named Milo.
